Lawnmower Maintenance Tips:

  • Always Use Fresh Gas
Gas that's been sitting around for more than a month or two can go bad and cause the engine to run roughly or not at all, so make sure to only put fresh gas into your lawnmower's tank. If you're in an area where you put your mower away for the season and you're going to store it with gas in the tank, use a gasoline stabilizer to keep the gas from oxidizing. Fuel stabilizer won't fix old gas, it only slows the oxidation process with fresh gas.
  • Replace the Plug
Replace the spark plug regularly according to the specs in your owner's manual. Make sure the gap distance is properly set, again according to the manual. If you have engine trouble, among the first and simplist things to check is the plug- remove and replace it if it's fouled. Check to see if any debris is caught in the gap area, preventing spark. If so, clean out the gap area and see if the problem is resolved.
